There should be a read-only mode where anyone can view items, read changelog... but not post a new feature etc.

It's completed. You can enable read-only mode in settings of a board.

Maybe both options make sense but for now I see the need to restrict post creation for users.
@Alexis B, it makes sense but what do you think about comments? Should users be able to comment on posts on the read-only board?
@Alex, comment posting should be restricted as well imho.
That's a good idea. Would you like to restrict post creation only for users or for team members too?
